A2.15 | FOSSIL BUGS FROM MESSEL AND OTHER TERTIARY FOSSIL SITES – A COMPARISON OF BIODIVERSITY

Project leader:
Dr. Sonja Wedmann

What changes underwent the development of biodiversity of bugs (Heteroptera) during the Tertiary? Until now, little is known about the influence of the cooling period at the end of the Eocene on the biodiversity of insects. To elucidate this question, fossil bugs from different fossil sites will be studied. A main focus of the investigations of the Eocene climate optimum will be the bugs from Messel.
