6-1.4 | PHYLOGENY AND PHYLOGEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF PECTINIDAE (MOLLUSCA, BIVALVIA) (2008-2011)

This project investigates the diversification and distribution in space and time of Cenozoic (Moicene to recent) Pectinidae (Mollusca, Bivalvia). The goal of the project is to reconstruct the evolutionary radiation and migration of Pectinids with respect to opening and closure of marine pathways between the various provinces. Thus, the project is subdivided in a molecular systematic and computer cladistic approach of extant Pectinidae from Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea and an approach using fossil material from the eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Western Tethys and Paratethys provinces from museum collections to reconstruct eco space pattern.
