D2.3: BIOINFORMATIC TOOLS FOR STUDYING LONG-SCALE CHANGES IN BIODIVERSITY (PHYLOGENY) AND THEIR CORRELATION WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES

Fields of interest:

My research interests include the evolution and phylogenetics of mammals (and vertebrates in general), and correlating their radiations with environmental factors such as climate change and continental drift. Certain positons in the mammalian tree of life have proven extremely difficult to resolve, due to temporally close successive speciations event. These divergences are studied in the light of reticulate evolution, utilising phylogentic networks. All studies are done with whole genome and transciptome sequence data. This requires extensive use of bioinformatics and developepment of novel bioinformatic tools, which is my second research interest.
