6-1.16: AQUATIC EVOLUTIONARY ECOLOGY UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE CONDITIONS

Research interests

I am especially interested in the evolutionary ecology of aquatic macroinvertebrates and currently investigating the physiological basis of local adaptation to drought. Insect larvae inhabiting temporary streams are subject to periodic water stress, which induces changes in gene expression. In my PhD-project I aim to study these changes using laboratory drought experiments, transcriptome profiling and gene expression analysis. In addition to genetic responses, energy reserves will be analysed to investigate the metabolic strategies of species and populations from temporary and permanent streams.
